What are online services? They are companies such as America Online, Compuserve, Prodigy, etc. Some people use these companies as their ISP (Internet Service Provider) -- but even if we have a different ISP, we can join an online service, to make use of it. We will be reaching new customers; some online-service members rarely venture beyond the service to go onto the rest of the internet, so this is the only place where we can reach them.

Opportunities at online services.

  1. Classified ads. Some online services charge for classified ads; others do not charge.
  2. Directories. Our business is listed in the online services' directories of members.
  3. Conferences, forums, special-interest groups, and roundtables. We can conduct (or participate in) these groups, where people chat about their special interests (including business). Through our involvement, we gain credibility, information -- and customers.
  4. Libraries. We can put reports into these libraries, where other people can read them. The reports contain information which is useful to the people, but we can also add some publicity for our business.
