ABOVE ALL

So many people smiled today,
Or was it just the sun rising?
To my eyes,
It was not surprising.

I saw a light rain falling
In growing fields around me,
And rainbows over
The green sea.

Blue skies and stars
Appeared in the same glance.
And all, above all,
Began to dance.

So many people sang today,
Or was it just a sweet breeze?
I heard violins
Among the summer reeds.

Live music called me
In a million living rhythms.
Light was falling
Through silver prisms.

Blue skies and stars
Appeared in the same glance.
And all, above all,
Began to dance.

ABOVE PACIFIC SAILS

Awaken in the eastern sun,
Above Pacific sails,
Where colors clothe in golden forms,
And weave the sea's veil.

I wear robes of ruby light.
You carry silver hue.
I give you, with a hand of wind,
A crown of morning dew.

ALIVE IN THE LIGHT

There's a man growing sunshine
In an inlet by the bay.
At dawn, he casts it on the waves,
And it sails away.

A girl is growing flowers
Like plans she's had in mind,
And every one blossoms
In time.

Every dream I've seen
And every thing I've done
Is alive in the light
Of its own sun.

A man is chanting,
And every word turns true.
Soft colors blossom
In a hue.

Painters and singers
Play in love's embrace.
And the landscape rises
To a higher place.

Every dream I've seen
And every thing I've done
Is alive in the light
Of its own sun.

ALL I NEED TO KNOW

I know you're a lover
From another land.
Speak to me
In ways I understand.

You're a drifter
From another dream.
Sing of things
I've never seen.

ALL I SEE NOW

I can show you leaves of spring
Before the winters pass.
And I can tell you worlds I've made
Of the shade on April grass.

Let me take you where I've been
On lightning beams of dreams.
Let me show you the sailing ships
I've seen on silver streams.

I can tell you where I'm bound
Far beyond the bow.
All the voyage onward
Is all I see now.

ALL THE LOVE

I see your face reflected
In bright spiritual skies.
And I see my soul reflected
In the beauty of your eyes.

I want to take you
Where I've been,
Show you all the love I've seen.

I hear your voice whispered
In worlds all around.
I hear your fine vibrations
In the love of loving sound.

In the sky
That we're rising toward
Sings the love I've heard.

I see your love shining
In every inner land.
I want to show my love
In every way I can.

I'll take you
Where my love is real,
All the love I feel.

ALREADY HERE

A song you've heard before
Is singing through your dreams.
All around, see the sky
In the light of brighter scenes.

All that you have ever felt,
And all you know,
Are all around and deep inside.
There's no place to go.

Through the morning light,
There's a song singing clear:
All you seek is already here.

Sing a song of peace.
Everything is all right.
Your eyes and all they see
Are lovely colors in the light.

You've been looking all your life.
You've listened for so long.
Your heart and mind and all they hear
Are the lyrics to your song.

Through the morning light,
There's a song singing clear:
All you seek is already here.

AMONG THE ROSE

A flower holds its proud crown
Into the skies,
Creating a shade
That below the leaf lies.

Radiating colors
In hues it never sees,
Dropping seeds without a thought,
Forgotten to the breeze.

I offer my love
That sometimes I seem to lose,
To be picked among the rose
By those who so choose.

A maple tree meets
The plan already made,
And aligns its limbs
Between sun and shade.

Wrapped in rings of brown
It's never seen,
Growing for no given reason
Into leaves of green.

I offer my love
That sometimes I seem to lose,
To be picked among the rose
By those who so choose.

ANOTHER WAY TO LOVE YOU

I love you like a morning star,
In the low light before dawn.
I love you with the melody of song.

The winds of day whisper
A word, revealing
Not a thought, just a feeling.

I awaken to find today
Another way to love you.

Songs you're singing
Flow with no trace,
Just a smile on your face.

My love is the dance of dawn
The stars don't rehearse.
My love is a song of endless verse.

I awaken to find today
Another way to love you.

ANY LOVE IS TRUE LOVE

She sings to me of loving things,
And she learns the lyric well.
She's a master of languages
That lovers tell.

We have sung in sunlit clarity.
There, and in the shade,
She gave me softest songs,
And I've gone to hear her say ...

"Any love is true love.
Since first I knew love,
I've known you."

She said she learned to know my voice
Listening to a flowing stream.
And she arose in love remembering
My song from fondest dream.

My eyes were from her childhood skies.
My smile was her all.
Every lightbeam she'd see in me.
From each hill, she'd hear me call.
... And she said ...

"Any love is true love.
Since first I knew love,
I've known you."

THE ARTIST

Sometimes my words linger
Like leaves on winter trees,
Then blow away for no given reason
In the breeze.

My highest dreams fulfill
Where words can only start.
Worlds are drawn by the artist
Of my heart.

AS THE LIGHT

Stand with me on evening hills,
And see created dreams.
Or gaze on stony wood,
If stone is what it seems.

Have galaxies as diamonds,
If jewels they are.
Grant a name to lightning night,
A story for the stars.

Know my love as lyric wind
In heart of hillside night.
See me as the textured moon,
Or find me as the light.

AS YOU FIND YOUR WAY

I smile to you with sunbeams.
In their quiet cast,
Listen to the simple play
Of woodwinds on grass.

Sing with me gently
If we find no place to go.
In the rhythm of our lips
Are overtones to know.

I offer you the present: light,
And open fields of day,
That you may find my love
As you find your way.

AUM

A song I once heard
Calls to me quietly.
It sings through the light
Of a dawn I no longer see.

Yet I find in the evening mist
A living light resides
Whenever a remembrance
Arises inside.

All my forgotten thoughts
Fall into view,
Moving through the memories.
Aum.

Once my feet hardly touched
The golden ground where I walked.
Starlight was not far brighter
Than any fallen rock.

But now my clothes hang heavier,
Blown by a stronger wind
That sings undertones
Of wonders that have been.

All my forgotten thoughts
Fall into view,
Moving through the memories.
Aum.

AWAKENING

I see a light shining
Through the golden threads you wear.
You awaken me this morning
With a flower in your hair.

You paint blues and soft hues
To decorate the dawn.
The grandest gift of sunlight
Is the greater light beyond.

In the songs you whisper,
I hear harmonies above.
In a moment beyond this morning,
You awaken me to love.

AWARE

A living stillness settles
In the room where I am sitting.
And from my pen appears
The poem already written.

Like fallen rains that realize
They're in a river flowing,
My mind silently agrees
To things it has been knowing.

The dawn casts a sunrise
On worlds already there,
In the light
Where my eyes become aware.

I speak of things
Of which I'm only learning.
I'm a person in the world
Who finds the world is turning.

My lyrics appear in the night
And then I find their meaning.
They remind me of a song
I'm already singing.

The dawn casts a sunrise
On worlds already there,
In the light
Where my eyes become aware.

BE HERE

I can touch the stars,
And there's something in that light
Only if you see the view,
And I see it in your eyes.

I've sung love songs
Right before your face.
But I don't know: was I alone,
Or did you hear my fire blaze?

Be here to greet me,
So I won't be alone.
When you see me.
You and I can go.

Be here,
To see the heat in my eyes.
Sharing my life
Makes me feel alive.

I can answer
The sweetest dreams in you.
And if you need a dream,
I'll give you that, too.

Let me test my words
In the fire you see.
Only if you say it's true,
Will it come to life for me.

Be here to greet me,
So I won't be alone.
When you see me.
You and I can go.

Be here,
To see the heat in my eyes.
Sharing my life
Makes me feel alive.

THE BEST PEOPLE

She has a song-voice
like long, sweet breezes.

Infinite winds give
as much as
her love.

Her open eyes
show skies
forever heavenly.

She's truth:

The
best people
in life
are
free.

BEYOND THE RHYMES

I come to you smiling
And it's just a face I wear,
But it's a way my heart inside
Can share the love that's there.

I sing to you words of love
You've heard a thousand times.
Listen to the gentle sounds
In realms beyond the rhymes.

BEYOND THE WORLDS BEYOND

Yesterday I studied skies
And texture of winds,
For something to tell me
The story that is.

I listened to learn of
The worlds that hide.
And I heard my voice there,
Call from nowhere inside.

I sing out to you here.
And I simply see your love clear,
Beyond the worlds beyond.

I awaken to the dawn,
And I find the sun is just a star
Within skies I have raised
To be the color they are.

There's no mystery in the mist,
No riddle in the dawn,
No heart that the light
Will not shine upon.

I sing out to you here.
And I simply see your love clear,
Beyond the worlds beyond.

BLUE CRYSTAL

Hear the dreams around
In the sound of snowing.
Tomorrow in the clear,
The clouds will be going.

Be with me like winter sky
When the snow has fallen.
Stir the blue crystal words
When the wind has finished calling.

Be the actress
In the play we've directed.
And see my quiet love in yours,
Reflected.

Know the perfect words of wind
The clouds have vanished through,
When the heavens face the fullness
Of the earth's empty sky of blue.

In the silver stillness,
Be the breeze ringing light.
Your laughter spills below
To the snow, silent white.

Be the actress
In the play we've directed.
And see my quiet love in yours,
Reflected.

BLUEPRINT

The sky
lies high in
blessed reception
to my hopes,
awaits the
dream-feeding
from me,
becomes a
blueprint
by my sunlight's
silver signature.

BLUE SKY BLUES

My blues are
The blues of the sky.
They make my light
Come to life.

They touch me low.
I know what they say.
They make me play
In a quiet way.

It's like singing
By a river that's flowing.
I sing words going
My way.

Beauty in the valley
By the light of the sun
Looks wonderful to me,
In blue sky blues I see.

When the blues are singing sweet,
They bring a healing
Like the feeling of
A real light kiss.

When blues are flaming smooth,
I can claim the nameless things
My heart sings
Too soft to say.

When blues are in the sky,
I see my whole light shine
To the pines
And the stones below.

Beauty in the valley
By the light of the sun
Looks wonderful to me
In blue sky blues I see.

BOUQUET

I wander through springtime,
And dreams are revealed
In scenes around me,
Like flowers in a field.

A red rose for the radiant
Awakening of dawn,
For all the bright beginnings
The morning has begun.

Someone took the sunrise
And arranged in a bouquet
The blossoming colors of day.

A violet for the evening sky
Above the shining dew,
For all the nights I find
A time to renew.

A lotus, like white clouds
In the distance at dawn,
Lost on bright horizons
In the flight of a swan.

Someone took the sunrise
And arranged in a bouquet
The blossoming colors of day.

THE BREEZE FALLING

I awaken and arise
Into awaiting form,
And I find the sky alive
With welcomings warm.

I imagine land lying
For soft footsteps I lay,
And radiant rivers singing
To the oceans of day.

With fingers of mountaintops,
I touch the sky,
And I feel the breeze falling
In loving reply.

BY THE SEA

There's a perfect purpose
In the curl of waves,
A thought in their thunder
No words could say.

There's a message in emptiness
In every shell.
Their whispering
Is the lesson they tell.

In other ways, you could say
The lesson to me.
But I'd rather learn in words
Of the sea.

There are songs in the billions
Of crystals of sand.
Each nameless grain
Seems to understand.

They sing in rhythms
With wind by the sea.
And it's clear, because I hear
The same song in me.

In other ways, you could say
The lesson to me.
But I'd rather learn in words
Of the sea.

CALLED TO THE LIGHT

Low voices fill the dawn
In a pleasing way,
In the slow dream
That awakens my day.

My diamonds are colors
The morning dove sees.
My words are just
A breath to the breeze.

I see, with open eyes,
Bright stars below the sky,
And called to the light
Am I.

My dreams are seeds
In golden ground,
In rhythms
Raised by nature's sound.

While sky and stone slumber,
Tonight I will leave,
Guided by my own light
In the eve.

I see, with open eyes,
Bright stars below the sky,
And called to the light
Am I.

A CALM COMEDY

Drama of dawn,
be to my nature
a calm comedy.

Grab me up,
happy actors,
in your dance.

When the dark's curtain
falls front,
we'll slip away
to another veil
to unzip.

CANDLES IN MY SPIRIT

Sometimes I need
The full force of God
To speak my words,
Write my songs.

Sometimes my fires
Burn high and hot
When I walk through darkness
Hard as rock.

But then I'm alone
With candles in my spirit.
My light goes low.

Something comforts me
While all I see
Are candles in my spirit.

I strum my guitar
And sing half the night,
Soft as I can
By candle light.

I'm not really alone
With my song decrees,
'Cause I feel the stars
And everyone who loves me.

I'm alone
With candles in my spirit.
My light goes low.

Something comforts me
While all I see
Are candles in my spirit.

CATHEDRAL BY THE SEA

I give you everything,
Though I am not the giver.
I wish you words that sing,
And a singer to deliver.

Within the silver winter hills,
I leave my golden stone.
And I fly alone through jewel skies,
To the golden shores of home.

I live in a
Cathedral by the sea.
Winds sing
To bring the word to me.
Shanti.

See my love in morning rise.
I'll show you brighter day.
Hear my love in silences,
And I'll tell you what they say.

I hear delicate melodies,
Of sounds too soft to sing.
And I lift my eyes to vision skies,
And give you their brilliant dream.

I live in a
Cathedral by the sea.
Winds sing
To bring the word to me.
Shanti.

CAUSE

I listen for a lyric
In distant horns I hear.
And in morning dreams,
The meaning is clear.

Notes flow through daylight
For reasons I may ask.
And they simply say their name
As they pass.

There's a cause for colors
I lightly look upon,
There, in the clarity of dawn.

Shadows rearrange
Along the valley as I go.
And meanings change
Around the things I know.

As I learn the way to work
Below the light I see,
I know my life here
Is meant to be.

There's a cause for colors
I lightly look upon,
There, in the clarity of dawn.

CAVERN

My torch is a starved star
As I walk through the cave,
Here in lands of darkness,
Recalling golden days.

Rocks form like frozen waves,
Of sounds the cave has heard.
Empty, the mouth is set to speak,
But can't recall the words.

Yet though life weakens,
Still life remains,
To eyes that see beyond gray lines
That lie in midnight caves.

CLEAR

Clear sunlight on leaves,
green in their own sight, shimmer
in waves of light wind.

CLOUD

Your dreams fill the sky
Like a blossom set to bloom.
Every cloud is a word
To the morning tune.

A mist of crystal cloud
Is born of every solar ray.
In the sky, I see the signs
Of a brighter day.

I see a silver cloud
Above the river flowing.
And I know, again,
I must be going.

I saw the river from the mountain top,
And I'll see it all again.
It was a cloud in the sky
Before the rain.

I saw you light the sky.
And then, within a dream,
You made the river flow
Slowly to the sea.

I see a silver cloud
Above the river flowing.
And I know, again,
I must be going.

COMPOSER

I dwell in soundhalls
of Ode to Joy,
beyond played waves
of this ear.

All
my unspokenness
is soft echo
to her heart-genius
and loveliness
enlightened.

Aired awareness
circles music to music,
and I sail
the arc to
unnoted oceans where
composer
sings rhythm
to patterning flashing
above the sea.

CRY FOR CREATION

I was a shimmering shaft of light
in ecstatic sky.
My heartbeat, an exquisite rhythm
whispered from the breath of God.

You were a star
among sparkles,
too bright to view,
too ethereal to touch.

My love aroused my dream,
and my dream cried for creation.
What passion spurred me to
spurn the oneness of aloneness
to seek oneness through another?

Why trade visions for flesh,
and cold purity for passion?
Why dive into darkness
to find light that was already mine?

With a sigh and a shout,
I drew my dream,
a sketch in the sky,
and its colors grew thick,
surrounding around me.
And I laughed such a dream
could seem real.

I called you;
your twinkle quivered.
A moment, a motion,
and you entered my dream.

And we gazed
at creation occurring,
while the colors arranged into stone
and our shining changed to flesh.

I created this world
to make love to you.

I made rocks for us to dance on.
The sky is for our leaping.
Rivers to replenish
our tears of joy.

I created breeze to teach us
how to caress --
and a generous sun
for a guide in giving.

Flowers to remind us of our beauty.
Puffed clouds to recall us to peace.

Thick grass grows
where I knew we would lie.
We made bodies
that will fall in together,
and senses for whom pleasure is nectar.

Will I give everything
to experience your love?
I surrendered heaven
to be with you.

I loved you with light;
now I'll love you with heat.
If we burn perfectly,
we will blaze the dream,
and blend the colors to clear,
and we'll appear,
again,
in our glittering sky.

CRYSTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

Morning
sees me flying
in wind-clear clouds
of crystal
consciousness,
finding bright
diamonds at the
height
of the rainbow,
seeing
love hues
in whispering waters
rivering to the
sea.

A CRYSTAL IN CAROL

I first saw it
In Carol's sparkling eyes.
They were alive
With a diamond light.

I heard it when she
Spoke her mind,
With the logic
Of a crystal's line.

There's a crystal in Carol
Alive as her heart.
A crystal in Carol
More distant than stars.

A crystal in Carol
Casts color in her eyes.
I'd do anything
To touch that light.

When storms rise
In Carol's life,
She returns to the
Crystal inside.

From there, she shares
A love serene.
And she touches a
Bright spot in me.

There's a crystal in Carol
Alive as her heart.
A crystal in Carol
More distant than stars.

A crystal in Carol
Casts color in her eyes.
I'd do anything
To touch that light.

DANCE MASTER

The words were spinning
A love in lyric light,
As the dance master leaped
To dreams drawn bright.

She said the dance begins
When all stillnesses have gone,
And high-night flashes
Leave bright shadows on the lawn.

The enchanted dancer
Held the wind within her hands,
And every living voice
Seemed to join the dance.

She called me where our rainbow
Had grown from garden ground.
And we waltzed softly
On a rising flight of sound.

DANCE OF DAWN

High-cloud
children dance,
together-handed
where
landsands touch
the sea.

They picture
light visions of
bright-capped wind
waves, and
sing
sun-rhythms to the
sparkling dawn.

DARK GARDEN

Sometimes the forest calls me
To its warm low light.
And in the summer comfort,
I spend the night.

In sweet dreams,
In gray shades of green,
From my sleep, a light
Grows to be seen.

The dark garden around me,
And all the ground below,
And all the stones open
In the morning glow.

When I see the forest
Above the trees' view,
The greatest light of day
Shines through.

I seek the light beyond earth
That gathers to one
The colors that have scattered
From the sun.

The dark garden around me,
And all the ground below,
And all the stones open
In the morning glow.

DAUGHTER OF THE STARS

I met a girl
Who cast magic to the night,
And everything she touched
Turned to light.

She showed her love
In every way she could.
And in ways without explaining,
I understood.

She smiled and said to me,
"Light is all you need to see."

She set her heart to love
And her reasons to rhyme.
She wrote her words in clouds
And made them shine.

She sang of night
As if it were the noon,
And I couldn't tell her laughter
From the tune.

She smiled and said to me,
"Light is all you need to see."

DELTA BLUES

I await you at the river.
You will hear me by the reeds,
Where lotus ships slip away
Slowly to the sea.

Newborn clouds, beyond the shore,
Fade to far horizon blue,
As though their loveliness were gifts
Of invitation to you.

Find me at the start of sea,
To see its azure eyes.
From three corners of delta sky,
Winds call you to my side.

DISTANT RHYTHM

I made myself
tall, to view
farther toward your fireside.

Legs long,
to move the miles behind me --
a walker of wistfulness,
wanting to deny distance.

I became bigger to
hold more love,
with extended arms to
embrace you sweeter,
and a longer love
to adore you deeper.

And my fingers --
I whispered, "Grow out,
go out to her,"
that I could touch
my hopes on my horizon.

Flesh, fantasy fuse
in imagination
in their way --
body's rhythms,
mind's visions /
shimmering apparitions:
tiger lilies
at warm river.
Feeling breeze teasing
my heated flesh --
ecstasy of anguish and desire.

Driven to dance,
I am lightning --
one hand to heaven,
one to flesh.
Greater gods touch me
to study such grace.

That my tears
stream to your sea.
That my laughter
fly the length to you ...

That my hands
have the reach
to stroke you
in your secret seclusion,
in meter of your heart,
in beat of your breath.

What do
you do in your distance?
And what rhythms
spin from your hands,
stirring ripples
across your crystal lake?

And what flames
flicker from
your dreams for me,
your longings
from long away?

Do you sing
your blissful blues
to the night's one moon --
sing your solo sorrow
that your voice
be a companion?

Do you see me
the catcher
of the color
you visualize to the sky?

Were I fire,
I would flash the map that
marks miles.

Were I
the hand that touches you,
sweet heats
would melt you
to sleep of peace.

Were I the sky --
vast beyond my heights --
I would
enfold you with golden light,
hold you with a hug of thunder;
I would
be here, be there,
be me, you,
wrapping you in rhythms
that dizzy you with delight,
and plunging you into pleasure
where your voice might
grasp at questions,
but your own gasp of rapture
is your response.

DON'T LEAVE ME

The rains of night fell.
I left them yesterday.
Now morning's arrived,
And in light I find my way.

You sing lightly to me.
And the high skies are clear.
And my heart is happy
With you here.

Don't leave me
Until you go.
There's so much of your love
I wish to know.

All I've ever hoped to hear
Are the words you're singing now,
Growing and echoed
In winds that blow about.

All I see are morning stars
In this morning of the day,
Filling the wind
With words they softly say.

Don't leave me
Until you go.
There's so much of your love
I wish to know.

DREAMBOAT

Dreamboat
mists drift high
on invisible
rivers of wind.
Cargoes
of ocean seed
go on clear sail
to the shore
horizon.

DREAM MY LOVE

When I have no poem to tell you,
To the valley we will take.
I'll show you brilliant patterns,
Bright reflections on a lake.

We'll see lights of summer dawn
My paints would have played,
And hear soul sounding
Through words I may have made.

In the hidden whisper
I ask the wind to sow,
Dream my love of song
That seems not my own.

DREAM ON

I listen to a distant dream,
Calling me home --
Music beyond my song
To ears beyond my own.

There's a sweet sound of dreams
Where clouds of color fall.
Through the morning sky,
I hear the song of songs call.

Dream on.
Dream of the day.
Shadows fade to a lighter shade
And drift away.

Worlds go without a trace,
Like sparrows in flight.
For a moment, patterns weave
In the light of lights.

A lantern shines from far skies,
Brighter than dreams,
Streaming through pure light
From the king of kings.

Dream on.
Dream of the day.
Shadows fade to a lighter shade
And drift away.

DRESS BRIGHT

I see the night surround my scarves,
And the starlight fall still.
I rest the dark on sheets of stone
To sleep as it will.

I have no plans for shadow plays;
My actors dress bright.
My dreams I weave in silver,
Given to golden light.

I dance the night in no motion,
And I fly to you here.
No echo knows the stone below,
So far, so dark, so near.

EARTH SHINE

Meet me in the meadow
When morning lights appear,
And see everything
Glowing clear.

Eagles fly lightly
Where just my thoughts had flown.
Windy skies arise for the ceiling
Of my home.

We'll spend the dawn wandering
Through fields we find.
Awaken and see the earth shine.

Flowers that bent yesterday
Rise in rebirth,
And find another color
On the earth.

In a hue of blue light,
The morning takes form,
Where my dreams had lay
The night before.

We'll spend the dawn wandering
Through fields we find.
Awaken and see the earth shine.

ENDLESS MORNING

The sunrise casts light
On islands near the shore,
And I see the sun
Rise twice more.

Across the nameless waves,
Plays the sun's early ray.
In eternal seconds by the sea,
The morning lasts all day.

The sun rises
Into skies it's forming.
And we begin, again,
The endless morning.

Sailing ships linger
Like lotus in the light,
Lying white across the wind
Within my sight.

Across the sea,
The song of dawn sings clear.
And again the sun
Has begun to appear.

The sun rises
Into skies it's forming.
And we begin, again,
The endless morning.

ETERNAL VERSE

The sun lays no shadow
On lands beneath the trees,
Whose limbs set no limits
To the motions of the breeze.

There's a chorus of eternal verse
From the forest, calling
Through leaves that forever fall,
Past other leaves falling.

EVENING SONG

We listen to the evening stars --
The quiet rhymes they sing
High above the ocean,
Simply shining to be seen.

We saw the ocean sky
Fade, fade to night,
Gently, like the way
You call me to your side.

We will lie here, deeply dreaming.
We'll awaken in the dawn.
But for now,
We sing an evening song.

We wrap ourselves in blankets
Warm before a fire,
And find new words to say
As stars rise higher.

Our thoughts are lost in sound
As waves rise in the breeze,
And we start to sing softly
An evening song by the sea.

We will lie here, deeply dreaming,
We'll awaken in the dawn.
But for now,
We sing an evening song.

EVENING HEAVENS

I
fly through
evening heavens,
and wish violet
winds to sing
me awake
and so ...

And halo
mists
alift from
tide of sea
that
relights my
starlight
on free-pattern
waves.

EXPRESSION

My song has no words,
Just sound, if you will,
And unlit visions
Your sunlight may fill.

The poem casts pictures
That light flashes through
From winds in the sky
Of sky-bright hue.

There are unwritten rhythms
You speak as you may,
For sweet melodies of breath
Your lips may say.

My love is unblossomed
'Til figured to form,
When my heart seeks expression
In bright shadows of morn.

FEAST

I wave my
patterned net
in streaming
blue
and catch dreamed
things
for my
feast.

FINAL FLIGHT

I have had time for theatre.
In arenas I have been,
Singing, singing,
Like I'm dancing on the wind.

I have played a fingered lute,
And flutes became my voice,
Discovered in skylit blue
Where new winds arose.

On soft-created dreams
Of my heart,
A final flight
Of soul shall start.

I turn from moments' memories
And find no shadows drop.
All has been erased
In payment to the thought.

I leave my mind in low lands,
Bequeath my needs to earth.
And in the hold of golden light,
I receive rebirth.

On soft-created dreams
Of my heart,
A final flight
Of soul shall start.

FIRE OF GOD

Dawn comes slowly
Like dreams that stir
To the dark side
Of the earth.

I don't mind the cold morning.
I don't fear the dark.
There's warm light
In my heart.

My hands come together
To pray with awe
When I see
The fire of God.
I'm inspired by the fire of God.

A fire seems alive,
Dancing in the night.
Perfect blend
Of earth and sky.

As I gaze into fires
Of the rising sun,
My eyes and skies
Become one.

My hands come together
To pray with awe
When I see
The fire of God.
I'm inspired by the fire of God.

FIRED UP

Every day I wake up
A little more,
More alive
Than before.

My eyes get filled
With sweet sparks,
Rising from the
Heat in my heart.

I get fired up
By the sun in the sky,
Charged by the start
Of morning light.

I get fired up.
Do you feel it, too?
Let the fire
Spread to you.

My eyes drink in
Living light
From brother sun
In the sky.

I see by the
Fire of my dreams,
Blazing up
Through me.

I get fired up
By the sun in the sky,
Charged by the start
Of morning light.

I get fired up.
Do you feel it, too?
Let the fire
Spread to you.

FIRST OF ALL

I promise you
A sunrise every day.
And I pledge
New life to come your way.

No broken promises
Will haunt your night,
'Cause what I offer
Is my eternal light.

First of all,
See my loving light.
And all the rest
Will be all right.

First of all,
See my spirit in me.
I wanted someone
Who could see
First of all.

I have a gift
Ready for you.
Someday you may see
It's true.

I'll give it to
Someone who can see
The blazing rays
Of love in me.

First of all,
See my loving light.
And all the rest
Will be all right.

First of all,
See my spirit in me.
I wanted someone
Who could see
First of all.

FLOWER IN YOUR HAIR

My love is a summer breeze,
Blowing waves on a willow tree.
All I want is to grow with you
In a garden city by the sea.

I hear a sound whirling,
A thousand sounds of power.
I dream of ways to love you,
And the dreams blossom like flowers.

I live just to live
In the love we share.
I'd love to see you wear
A flower in your hair.

No one speaks the secret:
There's no song like the wind.
Flowers rise silently
To cover where we've been.

The sun, through the air,
Is swimming silent like a swan.
I'll love you in the evening,
And beyond tomorrow's dawn.

I live just to live
In the love we share.
I'd love to see you wear
A flower in your hair.

THE FLOWERS ON MY MOUNTAIN

The flowers
on my mountain
do not blaze
like suns;
their petals not perfect
to my mathematics;
their heights not infinite
into the sky.

I might have liked
lilac to be their scent.
I could have dreamed for them
the dazzle of diamonds,
leaves of sweet emerald.

Flowers.
So simple. ...

Grand clouds
surround my mountain peak.
I was shouting
above the thunder;
I was jousting with lighting
with gods. ...

Why would
flowers fascinate?
Why does beauty blind me
to the bold flashing of my fantasies,
leave me speechless to my schemes?

Why do I sense
my own spirit
when I caress the stem
of such a simple life?

Why am I weakened
to my knees
by the flowers before me?

I hate you for breaking me
to the ground.
I despise your power
to silence my thunder.

I cry
seeing my castles crumble.
And all my tears
are the rain that
feeds your flowers.
And all my
indignity
is the humble earth
that hugs
your roots.

FOREVER FOR A MOMENT

I cannot take you to the morning light.
I have only this moment to share.
Near to me in this silent night,
I hear you singing there.

The light I see is clear and still.
I will love you here forever,
For a moment.

I don't know where I'll go today.
A thousand voices call.
Dreams draw my heart away,
And I leave to live them all.

The light I see is clear and still.
I will love you here forever,
For a moment.

FROM THE INNER SIDE

Sometimes the canyon
Echoes everything I speak.
I hear my voice there
And from the mountain peak.

Every word I sing
Invites back a rhyme.
Every song I hear
Sounds like one of mine.

The canyon and the mountain
And the sea
Arise from the inner side
Of me.

Sometimes there's a mirror
Within every frame.
Behind every hue,
The light shines the same.

A cloudy sky
Is the other side of rain.
My breath is every wind,
And it's blowing back again.

The canyon and the mountain
And the sea
Arise from the inner side
Of me.

GARDEN OF HEARTS

I visited a garden
On a mountain side,
Known to none
But the sunlight.

Now I'm joined
By others by and by.
We take hands
And turn to the sky.

We're growing a
Garden of hearts.
A garden of hearts.

I'm part of a
Garden of hearts.
We're growing quite well.

Each flower has a name.
Each flower has a face
That turns to see
The sun blaze.

Seeds fall from heaven,
And plant themselves here.
Their petals
Draw sunlight near.

We're growing a
Garden of hearts.
A garden of hearts.

I'm part of a
Garden of hearts.
We're growing quite well.

GIVE IT ALL AWAY

I get lost in worlds you create,
Lost in the sight
Of patterns I see shining for me.
For you, I'm shining a light.

I've got a million dollars silver,
A thousand games to play.
When I see you smile,
I want to give it all away.

I offer love in all I say
And all I do.
Poems flow forever down a singing river.
And now I sing for you.

I've got a million dollars silver,
A thousand games to play.
When I hear your voice,
I want to give it all away.

All my heart is here with you
When you sing.
My loving lives for you. I'm living to give to you
The light of every thing.

I've got a million dollars silver,
A thousand games to play.
When I feel your touch,
I want to give it all away.

GLEN OF THE FOREST

In the hills of high country,
A man of love lives free.
He walks with songs of mountain wind,
And a flute of the juniper tree.

He plays a song of free breeze.
It echoes on and on.
He stands with his hands to the wind
In the rising red colors of dawn.

This is a song of Glen of the forest,
Glen of the forest green.
His eyes are blue as the sky above.
His songs are true as true love.
Glen, again I hear you sing.

His home is in a field of flowers
That blossom every day.
At night, the stars fly down to him,
To help him find his way.

His hair is brown like river stone.
Clear is the light of his eyes.
His heart you can see fair like the sky.
Yes, his heart is free as the sky.

This is a song of Glen of the forest.
Glen of the forest green.
His eyes are blue as the sky above.
His songs are true as true love.
Glen, again I hear you sing.

GOLDEN CANYON

I sculptured the golden
canyon by being
a hand
to its unknown stone.

My heartbeat
marked its
season, unheard
but to my heart.

Eye en-
lighted the visioned
hills that re-
sounded the vast
canyon
chanting.

GOLDEN FLOWER

Shafts of wheat rise beneath the sun,
Changing solar light to a golden flower,
Holding in the harvest, all the richness
That lingers from the sun's abundant power.

Golden shafts of wheat stand
Like rays arisen from a buried sun.
Blades rise to meet the sky, and
In solar sight, the three are one.

GOLDEN LIGHT

I listen to a silent symphony
That echoes from the ceiling.
And I see the worlds around arise,
A soft product of my feeling.

I live in a jeweled room
Of starry silver wealth.
And golden light finds me
And shines upon all else.

And I'll forever be
Living in golden light.
And all I ever see
Is giving golden light
To me.

I have a dozen sunlight friends
And friends who ride the night,
And teachers who stir the wind my way
And turn my wings to flight.

All the visions I live,
All inspiration I hold
Arise in light, upon light,
To a bright home of gold.

And I'll forever be
Living in golden light.
And all I ever see
Is giving golden light
To me.

THE GOOD LORD

Last night,
The heavens opened up
With visions, music,
Mystic love.

But I like my mornings
Peaceful and plain.
Sunshine on rich earth.
Back to work again.

The good Lord loves me.
The good Lord provides.
I don't need
To see
Dazzling light.

The good Lord is with me.
I trust it's true.
But he keeps reminding
With the sun shining,
And the love I feel with you.

My heart has known
A sacred inner flame.
I compare it to sunlight.
It feels the same.

My God's not jealous
When he gets ignored,
Because I love my life
Like I love my Lord.

The good Lord loves me.
The good Lord provides.
I don't need
To see
Dazzling light.

The good Lord is with me.
I trust it's true.
But he keeps reminding
With the sun shining,
And the love I feel with you.

THE GRACE OF LOVE

It was nothing you did
That brought love to life,
When I suddenly saw something
In your eyes.

Nothing you said
Made me touch your hand,
But it's something
Two hearts understand.

It's the grace of love
From the deep I don't see.
The grace of love
From high beyond me.

It's something I can't hold,
Can't earn or control.
Descending from heaven,
The grace of love.

You don't need to understand me.
I have a language of my own.
I have needs and reasons
You'll never know.

Don't read the expressions
In my face for too long.
Just listen to the love
In my song.

It's the grace of love
From the deep I don't see.
The grace of love
From high beyond me.

It's something I can't hold,
Can't earn or control.
Descending from heaven,
The grace of love.

GREAT SPIRIT

You were on the holy mountain,
The sacred ground.
I went to find you.
Sun was going down.

I found you at the cliff.
You were singing to the wind.
I knew the words,
So I joined in.

It's the Great Spirit I see in the trees.
Great Spirit reaching into me.
Great Spirit in your eyes,
Like a gold flame of sacred fires.

You said a prayer
To Father Sky.
Mother Earth heard us
Chant all night.

We blessed flowers
With our love.
By morning, they had
All opened up.

It's the Great Spirit I see in the trees.
Great Spirit reaching into me.
Great Spirit in your eyes,
Like a gold flame of sacred fires.

HARMONIES

A stone selects its colored cloak
From billions it may choose,
And alights into the night
In harmonies of hues.

Somehow the thousand lights
Harmonize to one
Here in the clear light
Of the sun.

HARP-BEAT

From invisible strings,
a harp-beat
rises vibrating ...
and discovers
itself throughout
a million stillnesses.

HEALING WATERS

They say there's an ocean
At the end of this creek,
Miles from where
I can see.

All I know
Are cool, sweet waves
Of this creek
Against my legs.

These are healing waters,
Flowing to me.
Healing waters
Sparkle and speak.

Healing waters,
On their way to the sea.
They take my cares.
Someday they'll take me.

Something in the rain
And in the creek
Makes me dream
Of that sea.

Those dreams
Put peace in me.
They heal me,
And help me sleep.

These are healing waters,
Flowing to me.
Healing waters
Sparkle and speak.

Healing waters,
On their way to the sea.
They take my cares.
Someday they'll take me.

HEAR

Listen
my child. Your
gourds and your stones
are material poems.

Music
flows like sparkling rippling,
topping a hush
blue well.

Hear
the heart of the
harp
and the bell.

HEART

In the evening, I feel breezes,
Low and cool,
And see afar
Endless starry jewels.

I see the light
Is all they need to shine.
And I find it is your love
I love to find.

I see within your eyes,
As the lights rise higher,
The heart
Of all I desire.

All the morning needs
Is light, bright and clear.
Winds of early day
Appear for me to hear.

It's another hand
My hand wants to hold.
Your love
Wins my love to unfold.

I see within your eyes,
As the lights rise higher,
The heart
Of all I desire.

HEARTLANDS

Green-living hills
lie
as silent pulses
played
from distant
heartlands.

HEART ON FIRE

There's a fire in my heart
The world cannot sway,
With power that burns
The dark away.

Love consumes me
In the heat of the night.
It shouts to the stars
To blaze them bright.

I have a heart on fire.
A heart on fire in me.
I have a heart on fire
The world will see.

My love burns like rage
When it lies untaken.
When it flares up,
I feel the earth shaking.

I've seen hungry eyes
In a dark so deep,
Looking for a fire
Like the fire in me.

I have a heart on fire.
A heart on fire in me.
I have a heart on fire
The world will see.

HEARTWARD

Accelerate
heartward to a
word's
silent island
high
under the sun.

HIGHLAND

There are seasons there
With no wintertime.
You can climb through evening dreams
And see the sun shine.

Put your tired eyes to bed.
They have promises to keep.
People will think
That you're asleep.

We can fly to the highland
Beyond this island we've known --
This island we've called home.

Rivers rise below
And flow from the spring,
Singing of summer winds
In our flying wings.

Starry sunlight glides around
Like silver snow.
In warm mornings,
We go where we will go.

We can fly to the highland
Beyond this island we've known --
This island we've called home.

A HOME IN HELEN'S HEART

I could fall for Helen,
Like a breeze down the mountainside,
Toward her home
The mountains hide.

She is waiting
In a cabin's quiet room,
Knowing something divine
Will find her soon.

There's a home in Helen's heart
Where God can come and go.
In her sacred solitude,
She's not alone.

There's a home in Helen's heart,
Built with passion sweet
That only a man's perfect love
Could reach.

You may just see
The logs and stone,
Outside the doorway
Of her home.

Helen sits inside
With dreams you will see,
If your eyes are like stars,
And your words are the breeze.

There's a home in Helen's heart
Where God can come and go.
In her sacred solitude,
She's not alone.

There's a home in Helen's heart,
Built with passion sweet
That only a man's perfect love
Could reach.

I AM A GIANT

I am ...

A giant
in a castle of crystal and granite.
A sorcerer
who whispers intimately with deities.
A muse
who mocks one's frail flailing at my Meaning.

I am lightning that tears the sky.
I am a quake that breaks mountains.
I Am a Master of the Power of Words.

Yet
when I am your poet,
my mastery is hushed, humiliated;
my poetry grows fragile;
my images arise modest.

I cannot
summon visions worthy:
I see only a white blossom
in serene sunrise ...
river-ice crackling in spring's arousal ...
a blue-green grass pasture in warmed wind.

My heart has fallen
to common cliches;
my thoughts are cringes
of apology and chagrin.

I schemed poems
of thunder and recklessness;
instead, I come to you
with a plain bouquet
of the timid flowers
of my heart.

I CAN GIVE YOU

I can give you
A fine present,
Wrapped in ribbons
Of light from heaven.

I can touch you
With hands that God can move.
I can heal
The restless thought in you.

I can give you gifts that God already gave you.
I can give you sight that's hidden in your eyes.
I can give you love that's already saved you.
'Cause I see God gave you perfect life.
Yes, I see God gave you perfect life.

You never asked,
So I never gave it to you.
I just thought
You could see it, too.

But now I know
You want to be shown.
But what I give,
You already own.

I can give you gifts that God already gave you.
I can give you sight that's hidden in your eyes.
I can give you love that's already saved you.
'Cause I see God gave you perfect life.
Yes, I see God gave you perfect life.

I HEAR YOU SINGING, TOO

Where the light of brightest summer
Turns to shadow in the trees,
I see your love growing
Like a flower of a thousand seeds.

In the heartbeats of the singers
And in the harmonies of song,
A life of love lingers
And then it's passed along.

I see your love shining,
And it all returns to you.
And when I sing,
I hear you singing, too.

Sometimes it's hard to tell the river
From the rain that's falling down.
I can hardly tell the singer
From a song of a thousand sounds.

I find your love in my love
And your voice in all I do.
And when you give me your love,
I give more back to you.

I see your love shining,
And it all returns to you.
And when I sing,
I hear you singing, too.

I KEEP SECRETS

With your lips
On my cheek,
There are no words
To speak.

But if you feel
Something inside,
Tell me.
There's nothing to hide.

I keep secrets.
You can love me deep.
I keep secrets.
Give me something to keep.
I keep secrets.
I keep secrets.

Don't look away
When my eyes
Catch yours
By surprise.

I know
What I see.
And it's
Only for me.

I keep secrets.
You can love me deep.
I keep secrets.
Give me something to keep.
I keep secrets.
I keep secrets.

I have time,
So it's all right
If it takes
All night.

Your secret love
Will stay.
I'll never
Give it away.

I keep secrets.
You can love me deep.
I keep secrets.
Give me something to keep.
I keep secrets.
I keep secrets.

I LISTEN UP

I'm happy just to work
With earth and stone,
To build my own
Life and home.

I look at my Lord
In the land and the creek.
That's enough.
But when my spirit speaks,
When my spirit speaks ...

I listen up,
And I'm given much more.
I listen up
To my Lord.

I listen up
To the wind in the sky,
And my devotion
Is my reply.

I'm not watching the sky,
Not walking on my way.
I have work
To do today.

I'm content to see
My God in all.
I ask no more.
But when my spirit calls,
When my spirit calls ...

I listen up,
And I'm given much more.
I listen up
To my Lord.

I listen up
To the wind in the sky,
And my devotion
Is my reply.

I'LL JUST SMILE

Soft music finds me
In a room I made years ago.
The lyrics are words
That I once wrote.

I hear a bell
Ringing in the far sky.
It sounds familiar,
Though I can't remember why.

When I understand,
I'll reach for your hand,
And I'll just smile.

New people greet me
As if I've met them in another land.
And I call them by name
Though I don't know how I can.

Somehow I find the words
To say things I want to say.
And I walk ahead as if I have
Already passed this way.

When I understand,
I'll reach for your hand,
And I'll just smile.

I'LL SEE YOU

I've never seen this forest before,
Though somehow it seems
Like something I've seen in a dream.
Ethereal skies and emerald stream.

All the songs are sung low.
The sky is gray,
But in it's own way, it's clear.
And I hear a song from everything here.

I see a light
Like a morning glow.
Wherever I ever go,
I'll see you.

The ground below is like a crystal mist.
Greens and blues come to life in the light,
And a bright shade of brown.
And the light is gold as it sinks to the ground.

Every song will comfort your soul.
The sun and the stars are lost
In a bright shade of blue.
Like my words, they shine for you.

I see a light
Like a morning glow.
Wherever I ever go,
I'll see you.

I'LL STILL LOVE YOU

I want to find the music
Beyond all the songs we've sung,
Because I'm leaving in the morning.
I don't want to leave alone.

There's a "you" beyond you.
I wish I could take the radiance that's above you,
Because when I leave,
I'll still love you.

I see your smiling colors
High beyond my mind.
Tomorrow I still want to
See your light shine.

There's a hue beyond you --
A light that can lighten you and free you,
So when I'm away
I'll still see you.

When we sing miles apart,
We'll always be in rhyme.
We'll have the same rhythm in our heart
When we meet another time.

There's a "Hu" beyond you.
Sing your song of soul, and I'll hear you,
So when I'm away,
I'll still be hear you.

I'M GOING TO LIVE FOREVER

I awake in a starlit morning,
And wait for dawn's flame,
To see the solar shower
Fall upon the plain.

Distant clouds are clearing
On hills of sunrise,
In the great sky awakening
To my eyes.

I wakened in the early day,
And I heard the changing morning say,
I'm going to live forever.

Clouds of evening falling
Pretend the end of day,
And they plant drops of dew
In clear hues of gray.

I offer love in morning song.
And I charm the stars to rhyme,
To see eternal light
Arise in time.

I wakened in the early day,
And I heard the changing morning say,
I'm going to live forever.

I'M JUST LIVING MY LIFE

I'll sit by my sacred creek,
Beside my mountain home.
I'll watch the clouds come in,
Or maybe they won't.

I'll watch the moon do nothing,
A dragonfly in flight.
Maybe take a nap there.
I'm staying home tonight.

I'm just living my life.
The best thing to do.
I dream about God,
And think about you.

I'm just living my life.
My mind is still.
Life is sweet punch
That doesn't get me drunk.
I drink my fill.

I won't wait for special stars
To shine like day.
My eyes are still filled
With sunlight anyway.

I'm not flying to the moon.
I'm just watching my creek.
God might float by.
That's okay by me.

I'm just living my life.
The best thing to do.
I dream about God,
And think about you.

I'm just living my life.
My mind is still.
Life is sweet punch
That doesn't get me drunk.
I drink my fill.

I'M NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK

In my meditations,
I am silence, stillness, darkness.

I am night-villages of
innocent dreamers.

I am black sky,
shouldering the stars
but puzzling at their blink.

I hear sounds in the night;
I could imagine them songs,
but my soul holds no mad poet.

I feel the wind
streaking the eternal ebony
of my mountain.

I see the black valley.
Fathomless shadows.
Who would I be if I entered them?
How far could I wander?
Why do I thrill in the chance that I
tumble in the sweet squalor of the forest?

I want to spin down the mountainside.
I want to snuff my candles and
roam with no compass.
I'm not afraid of the dark.

IN MY HAND

The power in soul
Turns the world real,
Where dreams are cast
And wrapped in steel.

I see the worlds
I wish to create,
And mountains move
To assume the state.

Lyrics wind
Through my mind in plan,
In songs to worlds
In my hand.

I dream of stories
In the night.
They awaken
In the morning light.

I create a light,
And find I have eyes.
I imagine stars
For which I've made the skies.

Lyrics wind
Through my mind in plan,
In songs to worlds
In my hand.

IN MY SOUL

I feel I could write a song
With all my words, all my rhymes.
Yet I sing them just one at a time.

Every song will be heard
In words the proper way.
Every color will see the light of day.

Every road becomes one
In front of me.
In my soul, I am free.

In any moment of the day,
There's just one direction for the wind,
Yet there's no place it's never been.

As I travel through my time,
In my own way in the light,
Every road seems right.

Every road becomes one
In front of me.
In my soul, I am free.

INNER WIND

I hear a song for someone
In no one's language but the breeze,
Where the sky inscribes magic
On the seas.

I hear my secret singer's breath
And I let it fill my sail.
And the waters vanish behind
My traveled trail.

On soft-sounding currents
Of all that I do,
The inner wind
Brings me to you.

IN STILLNESS

See me in the sunrise
With the eyes of soul,
And find my love
As morning lights unfold.

Hear the Hu calling
Through high, bright skies.
Silence sings
Where its stillness flies.

And do what you wish,
For in stillness, it's done.

Hear the morning's stories
Its quietness tells,
Of a hand that touches all
But is not held.

I reach yet to you
To see your love soar,
And to say the worlds you wish
Are already yours.

And do what you wish,
For in stillness, it's done.

IN THE EARTH

There's a mountainside
Right beside my soul.
Sunlights touch the trees
And turn their green to gold.

There's a special thought
I want to share with you.
It will be a wonder still
Even after it comes true.

In the earth,
I see the turning of my dreams.
Let them turn your love to me.
Turn your love to me.

There are flowering fields.
I feel I know the way.
I see they go golden
Into the dawning day.

I just wrote a song
For my love for you.
And I hear that you
Already know the lyric, too.

In the earth,
I see the turning of my dreams.
Let them turn your love to me.
Turn your love to me.

There are stars that I
See every night.
I know their deep skies.
And I know their light.

There are dreams that I
See forming in your eyes.
I'll stay, and when the morning wakes,
I'll see their light arise.

In the earth,
I see the turning of my dreams.
Let them turn your love to me.
Turn your love to me.

IN THE SAME WORD

Sometimes I forget the time
As day awakens from night.
And I lose track of the colors of my love
Reflecting in the light.

I don't know where my love has gone.
It returns so soon to me,
Over mountain streams,
Flowing to the sea.

I offer my love
In every lyric you've heard,
And my love returns
In the same word.

The only light I know
Is the light you love to see.
I offer my hand to you
And see you reach to me.

You sing of the love you know.
So soon it shows again,
Growing like the love of rivers,
Flowing for the rain.

I offer my love
In every lyric you've heard,
And my love returns
In the same word.

IN THE WIND

When we awake and find our dreams of night
Have turned to dreams of dawn,
Climb down from starry skies
And turn the light on.

And if you find the morning wind
Lasts well into the day,
Don't let the bright surprise
Blow you away.

If they ask you
How you learned the lyric,
And where you've been,
Tell them you heard it in the wind.

I'll give you my silver harp.
I have golden reeds to play
To timeless rhythms
Hidden in the day.

If they try to take it from you,
There's nothing you've lost.
You know no one else
Could ever pay the cost.

If they ask you
How you learned the lyric,
And where you've been,
Tell them you heard it in the wind.

ISLAND GIRL

Beneath a blue sky,
I heard an island girl's song,
Like a flute among the thunder,
Rolling long.

Her deep ocean eyes
Grew brighter in a while.
And I heard her say,
As she began to smile:

"Do you love?
Do you love?
Let me know.
That's all I want to know."

An island girl walked
Down by the bay,
Leaving tracks that
Wash away.

She said, "I'm a child.
I'm an island in the sea.
I'll give you all my heart
If you will tell me:

"Do you love?
Do you love?
Let me know.
That's all I want to know."

ISLAND IN THE SUN

Sometimes in every star,
I see the same light.
And I hear the same wind
In every sky.

Colors cover all the sand
Soft white.
In worlds of dream,
There's a hue for every light.

Today, we'll live forever,
And the day has just begun,
On this island in the sun.

I'm on an ocean wave
Too slow to see.
I'm in a wind that's spinning
Out of me.

I hear a voice calling
From the center of the sun.
In worlds of sound,
There's a song for everyone.

Today, we'll live forever,
And the day has just begun,
On this island in the sun.

IT'S NO SECRET

I go on my way
And know the road ahead,
Seeing patterns in a map
I've already read.

In changing morning skies,
Other colors find my eyes.
And in this dream I've seen before,
It's no surprise.

And it's no secret --
The love in my heart.
I've planned it this way
From the start.

I see morning lights arranged
And changed for the day,
As if the bright blue shades
Already knew the way.

The love that I see
Appears to me,
Unfolding from soul
As I knew it would be.

And it's no secret --
The love in my heart.
I've planned it this way
From the start.

I'VE LOOKED ALL MY LIFE

I've seen my light
In clear skies,
And looked for it
In someone's eyes.

Light has a language
Clear to me.
I just wanted
Someone who could see.

I've looked all my life
To see you,
With light so clear,
I can see through.

I've looked all my life
To find you --
Someone with eyes
That shine like you do.

Everyone looks for light
Shining on their hand.
Now I find people
Who understand.

Everyone finds light
When they pay the price
To find someone
In the light.

I've looked all my life
To see you,
With light so clear,
I can see through.

I've looked all my life
To find you --
Someone with eyes
That shine like you do.

JUST A MOMENT

Sometimes it seems the sun
Is always at the height of noon.
Still, at night when solar light
Reflects from the moon.

Days pass and change
In ways I look at things.
A song lasts, as long
As I'm the one who sings.

My life will live forever,
Yet just a moment, it seems.
Time glides soft, unseen,
Like mist on midnight streams.

Somehow I now remember
When I was waiting for the dawn.
But plans I made in the starlight shade
With the stars, are gone.

All I ask of daylight
Is a second in the sun,
To stay for a moment
Where the beginning has just begun.

My life will live forever,
Yet just a moment, it seems.
Time glides soft, unseen,
Like mist on midnight streams.

KNOWING

And it seems,
As each moment of melody begins,
The harmony has already been said
In the long-traveled winds.

I sing heavenly melodies,
And dream them a solo to be.
Then in drumming summer winds of the woods,
There becomes a chorus of three.

It is known, the time of the arrival,
And known, the lines of the play.
As I reel through forests of feeling,
I see you walk my way.

I leap onto the ocean,
And islands arise for my stand,
By futured thought other eyes had seen,
And with my flight had planned.

You are gods of the drama, not knowing,
Perhaps, and long to be unknown,
For silence is deep in the seas of your song,
And uncolored is the gold on your throne.

It is known, the time of the arrival,
And known, the lines of the play.
As I reel through forests of feeling,
I see you walk my way.

KNOWLEDGE

There is something in the forest
Among golden flowers
That could hold me
Entranced for hours.

I never understood,
But now I know it's true
That I see
The same beauty in you.

There is something in you
I've seen times before,
And the knowledge
Calls me to love you more.

I used to gaze into the fullness
Of morning skies.
Now I look with love
Into your eyes.

In your every word, I hear
A familiar song.
And I remember I have
Heard you all along.

There is something in you
I've seen times before,
And the knowledge
Calls me to love you more.

LET IT GO

Joy flies in the high breeze,
Fallen from a voice of starry seas.
I lift my shining joy,
And it rises where I reach.

Love, bright in a brilliant glow,
Has flown to skies I dream to know.
I hold my love to gentle winds
And let it go.

I sing my dream to the day,
And let it fly away.

Peace is found far beyond the night,
Stirring with the early light.
Peace in dreams of delicate mist,
I offer this: the sky.

Dawn is giving me the day.
Wind bids the willow sway.
Above this passing radiant place,
I see myself give it away.

I sing my dream to the day,
And let it fly away.

LIGHT TOUCH

It's the whisper in the wind
That I listen to in the sky.
And the other sounds around
Pass me by.

I hear music in your laughter,
And magic in your words.
After all, I realize
A song is all I've heard.

It's the way you sing
That means so much.
You lead me to the light
With your light touch.

It's the wind on rippling water
That I see in the river's flow,
Dancing over
The water below.

In the subtlety of sunlight,
You awaken me at dawn.
Your colors call me
To a higher light beyond.

It's the way you sing
That means so much.
You lead me to the light
With your light touch.

THE LIVING GOD

Something is shaking,
Shaking the earth.
Was it always here?
Or is this the birth?

Why is it so bright?
Before, I couldn't see.
What is it, my Lord,
Before me?

It's the living God,
No church walls could hold.
The living God,
A fire in my soul.

The living God.
It's like waking from a dream.
The living God
Lives in me.

All my "me me" dreams
Fall from my eyes.
Fire blazes away
The lies, lies, lies.

The waters of life
Are a flood, and I drink.
The word of God
Is a song, and I sing.

It's the living God,
No church walls could hold.
The living God,
A fire in my soul.

The living God.
It's like waking from a dream.
The living God
Lives in me.

LOOK

Look around.
The master's love will be found.
In the stillness he will speak.
Seek to hear the song in every sound.

Look inside.
Behold the glow with open eyes.
His golden shades are traced in blue.
Seek the highest light in every hue.

LORD

There's a trace of you in the space between stars.
I see you in the heart of stones.
Your poems are notes in flowing chords,
Growing from a thousand tones.

I see your skies in the eyes of a child.
The hills are the will of your hand.
I heard your winds unfurl in worlds
Rolling from distant lands.

LOVE ME FOR THE RIGHT REASON

I plan my love carefully.
I am not the kind
To go falling in love
And falling behind.

I've known enough foolishness
And blinding desire,
And also the truth
Of my heart's secret fire.

Love me for the right reason,
Or let me be.
Few understand
The needs in me.

Love me for the right reason,
When you take my hand.
I'm not hard to love,
If you know who I am.

I spent many years alone.
Then I was found by the crowd,
And went spinning in love,
Around and around.

Now I choose my solitude,
And those few friends for me
Who can sense my spirit,
And honor its peace.

Love me for the right reason,
Or let me be.
Few understand
The needs in me.

Love me for the right reason,
When you take my hand.
I'm not hard to love,
If you know who I am.

LOW SOLO

I see the rain falling
In a soft evening haze,
In the faded light
That had been a brilliant day.

Cool rains come together
And gather in a stream
In rivers that
Had seemed to be a dream.

I hear a solo
Low in the night,
And I know
Everything is all right.

I hear my voice changing
As the lyrics go slower.
My words descend
Forever to the floor.

The sky, in some ways,
Is the same I've known.
These eyes say
The earth is just a stone.

I hear a solo
Low in the night,
And I know
Everything is all right.

MIDNIGHT SUN

Days have passed
Since the awakening of dawn.
The sun stays.
The rays linger on.

It shines from horizons
While dreamers sleep,
Through formless morning skies,
Forever deep.

Where I stand,
The day has just begun,
In the land
Of the midnight sun.

The light of day stays
Into the evening's heart.
Eternities
Endlessly start.

The sun forms colors
In auroras, unfurled,
In the timeless dance of day
On top of the world.

Where I stand,
The day has just begun,
In the land
Of the midnight sun.

MIDNIGHT TRAIL

Somewhere in my sleep, I'll awake
Where a dream machine is turning,
Weaving me in fabrics of gray,
Beneath a night light burning.

I'll meet you on the midnight trail.
I'll see you in my dreams,
Where winds fill the sail
Of ships on starry streams.

A MOMENT FOR MIRIAM

There's a fire in Miriam
I see in her eyes,
Like the sun blazing
In summer skies.

She gathers winter wood
And carries stones
Like her parents did
At her parents' home.

When the mountain ridge
Takes the sun to night,
Stars come out
In Miriam's eyes.

It's a moment for Miriam.
She leaves the chores at home.
With a kiss
And a blessing,
This moment is her own.

A moment for Miriam,
For God and her.
All she loved today
Patiently waits
For her return.

Church bells ring
In the clatter of each knife,
As she washes it,
As she lives her life.

Miriam hears it
With no time to stop.
She feels the moment go
With no time for thought.

She worships with work
In dirt beneath her flowers.
And after her fires
Blaze for hours,
She finds ...

It's a moment for Miriam.
She leaves the chores at home.
With a kiss
And a blessing,
This moment is her own.

A moment for Miriam,
For God and her.
All she loved today
Patiently waits
For her return.

A MOMENT OR A MILLION YEARS

How is your beauty different
From that of a perfect sky?
I lose myself in both.
You have infinite eyes.

How your hands different,
Or your hair streaked with gold,
From the loveliness I touch
In other people's soul?

A moment or a million years
I may be with you.
Are you a ripple on my river,
A cool diamond of dew?

A moment or a million years.
Where would you be,
If you knew:
The two are the same to me.

How can you trust
A man who is not sure
Which love is a dream,
Which love is yours?

I'm not to blame for
The flame that wakes me at dawn,
Or the sun that rises higher,
Or the fire that moves me on.

A moment or a million years
I may be with you.
Are you a ripple on my river,
A cool diamond of dew?

A moment or a million years.
Where would you be,
If you knew:
The two are the same to me.

MORNING GLORY

For the morning we have waited,
Restless to renew.
Stars wash away
In a sea of blue.

The morning winds
Whisper tales they've never told.
And oceans of flowers
Start to unfold.

With new words we've learned,
We begin another story,
In a field of morning glory.

The golden sun
Fashions jewels on the dew.
They shine in the light
Of the brightest hue.

The warm morning winds
Sing a note they've never sung.
And in their heart,
The harmonies have just begun.

With new words we've learned,
We begin another story,
In a field of morning glory.

MORNING MOUNTAIN

I see the mountain rising
Like a fountain to the air.
It stands from the valley and
The low wind there.

It sees sunlight
From a pure white peak,
Singing to the sky
To hear the light speak.

I'll climb Morning Mountain
And later I will find
The same shining light
In stars above the valley tonight.

I see the valley falling,
Softly calling to the shade,
Resting in a warm forest
Of jade.

Gathering the mountain slope,
Slowly in a stream,
Feeling the river flowing
Surely to the sea.

I'll climb Morning Mountain
And later I will find
The same shining light
In stars above the valley tonight.

MORNING SONG

The sun arose
Before I awoke this morning.
I opened my eyes to see
The dawn that had been forming.

When did the song start?
I just realized I hear it.
In overtones above my heart,
It songs a poem of spirit.

The words being said,
I am ready to hear.
And in the morning wind,
Songs appear.

I've seen you before,
But I can't remember when.
It seems we've made this day
Just to meet again.

I offer songs
I've thought to say before.
I give you all my love
Just to learn to love you more.

The words being said,
I am ready to hear.
And in the morning wind,
Songs appear.

MOSS

Moss on fallen tree.
Fibers meet where tiny stems
Stand on limb lying.

MUSICFALLS

River riffs
tumble to lower
musicfalls,
as each
wave
tunes to
undertone.

MY GOD IS A FLAME

Sometimes I sit
At night alone,
Within cool wind,
Upon warm stone.

When it's too dark
To see with eyes,
I see by light
Of inner fires.

There's something blazing, blazing,
Again, again.
If I give my thought
A name,
I say:
My God is a flame.

Please tell me
You see it, too.
I need that,
To feel close to you.

I see your fire
Like I see your face.
I love that flame.
Let it blaze.

There's something blazing, blazing,
Again, again.
If I give my thought
A name,
I say:
My God is a flame.

MY HEART SEES YOU

(To Laurie, whom I have not met.)

My heart sees you.

I hear your happy laughter
from a face that has
not yet been drawn for me.

Not seeing if freckles or wrinkles
might play there,
I weave a wisp of dreams
of who you might be.

I amuse at my baffled thoughts
which want to know,
want to know,
want to diminish you to an image --
but I cherish
the not-knowing,
the precious tension of having
no
settlement in which to lull.

Of your face, need I know more
than this --
that your lips read my letters aloud,
and that your cheeks grow sweet
in a smile provoked by my caressing words?

While my busy thoughts
propose their approach to you,
my heart is already
at home in your kindness.

MY LIVING GIFT

I give the sun of purest day
No planet's sky could hold,
And I play to you with rays of light
As were they strings of gold.

I tell you words of love,
Though love's not in the name,
But in a still unspoken spell
Beyond my softest wind's claim.

I offer you the riverflow
And light unheld by hand,
And of myself, my living gift,
For life is all I am.

MY LOVE TODAY

Here I lie, with open eyes.
I close my eyes to the dark.
If there is light, there inside,
I'll see it in your heart.

Set free your loving dreams.
Let them sail away.
They're going to return to you
In my love today.

MY SONG BEGINS

I dream of light
With no color nor form,
And see a child
Who's never born.

There's an unbound song
Like the wild wind of March,
Like the flying flame
On a torch.

Words fly on singing wings.
And where the lyric lays,
My song begins.

Feelings fall
Like silver-flake snow.
And I'm without a thought
But still know.

I see no bells,
Yet I hear them ring.
I seek the one I love,
For I hear her sing.

Words fly on singing wings.
And where the lyric lays,
My song begins.

NEW EYES

I woke before dawn
And began to smile
With the face of someone new,
Born a morning child.

I ran to the window,
And looked out to the night.
With hands I'd never seen,
I turned on every light.

And I saw,
As I opened
A new pair of eyes:
I really am alive!

The walls had changed,
And all the room.
With ears I'd never known,
I heard an early morning tune.

A billion brilliant hues
Rose into place.
Through the window shone
The dawning light upon my face.

And I saw,
As I opened
A new pair of eyes:
I really am alive!

OCEAN OF MY LOVE

Before the rising light of dawn
Has arrived,
Lie with me
Beneath a starry sky.

If you see the morning glow
Is forming far away,
Know that it will give you
The light of day.

Over the ocean of my love,
I see no other shore,
As I awake to love you more.

Lights appear
For a goddess of peace,
Shining on the mountains
In the east.

Every word is my word of love,
Each move is an embrace.
I live my life to see
Light dawn upon your face

Over the ocean of my love,
I see no other shore,
As I awake to love you more.

OLD WINDOW

Old window bends light
to green formlessness, from trees
young and firm outside.

ONE STAR FARTHER

Eve rhythms
sing to me
in tympani winds.

And through
the ever-heavier blue,
I peer
past quiet light
pulses,
to a more distant
dance,
one star farther.

ONE BY ONE

I see flowers blossom
In fields of their own,
And to my eyes, their beauty
Is good reason to have grown.

Clear rain is falling
In colors in the breeze.
Perhaps they never know
What their rainbow means to me..

You and I live
Below the clouds, below the sun,
And walk hand in hand,
One by one.

I point up to castle clouds,
And you look at birds in flight.
I take you down dark country roads,
And you show me stars of light.

I love you far better
Than words to you would say.
And from some secret reason,
You love me yet another way.

You and I live
Below the clouds, below the sun,
And walk hand in hand,
One by one.

ONE OF MANY NAMES

I dream of the secret poems
I someday will know.
And I find the final lines
Are long, and still they grow.

I live within the summer winds
And watch them race away,
Telling one of many names
In each word they say.

ONLY LOVE

I claim no sunset colors,
Just the eyes that see beauty there.
Nor did I create the breeze,
But the heart that finds it fair.

I know not who composed the song
That plays from my voice,
Though to listen and allow
Has been my will in choice.

I know why you smile
When you appear to look at me.
I stand alone, with you,
Where only love can see.

ONLY TO BE BORN

The sun stirs, secure
In its moment in the morn,
Like the first word of verse,
Awakening to form.
A child, so alive,
Needs only to be born.

ONLY YOUR HEART CAN SEE ME

Sometimes you talk at me
Like I'm someone else.
And your words sound like silence
In the depths of me.

Sometimes you try too hard,
While I'm just sitting alone.
And I wait for you to see
This lonely man in your home.

Only your heart can see me,
And you'll never understand.
But when you find me in your dreams,
I'm just a man.
Only your heart can see me.

Sometimes you're mad at me,
And I can't imagine why,
In the distance
Of your misting eyes.

Hush, sweet darling,
And turn out the light.
There'll be no confusion
When you close your eyes.

Only your heart can see me,
And you'll never understand.
But when you find me in your dreams,
I'm just a man.
Only your heart can see me.

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF SIGHT

I heard you sing
In your home beyond the trees.
The song floated fragrant
In the summer breeze.

Your words were crystals
In the clear morning air.
They sang, soft,
Of the love living there.

You look more lovely
On the other side of sight.
I'm looking through you
In the clear light.

I saw you dancing,
A diamond in the stars,
In the middle of the mist
Of midnight fires.

In the air, I saw a crystal,
And there I saw you.
Your eyes were clear
In clouds of white and blue.

You look more lovely
On the other side of sight.
I'm looking through you
In the clear light.

OVERTONES

Singer, give me ears
To hear beyond words.
There are many clear sounds
I've never heard.

Painter, show me the sun
In every shade.
There's a brighter light
When colors fade.

Child, give me eyes
To see through.
There's a clear light
In every hue.

Where do you hear
The song the wind wrote?
There are overtones
To every note.

THE PASSING SHOW

I offer all my love
And all I say and do
Like a wind that's drifting through.

The worlds I create
And all the things I know
Will pass with the passing show.

Shine bright like a star
In a soft sea of light,
Silver in an emerald sky.

I see vibrant color clouds.
They're my thoughts drifting by
In the space of a spiritual sky.

Sometimes I hear you singing
A morning song, soft and low.
It passes with the passing show.

Shine bright like a star
In a soft sea of light,
Silver in an emerald sky.

Listen to the sky.
You'll find another singer before long.
And I'll find another song.

A sunlit tune will call you.
Another moon will come and go.
And you'll find yourself past the passing show.

Shine bright like a star
In a soft sea of light,
Silver in an emerald sky.

PATTERNS IN THE SAND

Clouds pass through a blue sky
On the sea,
And drop soft rains
Around me.

I hear your rhythm
Somewhere in time,
In poems I could know
As mine.

Patterns in the sand
Play, and wash away.
Waves last forever,
But never stay.

PERHAPS FLOWERS

Tomorrow perhaps flowers
Will rise from every rock.
On grounds of ceaseless gardens,
I'd find a place to walk.

I suppose sunlight
May shine through solid earth,
And dewdrops to a jeweler
Could carry a diamond's worth.

Though sad shapes and shadows
May not fly away like doves,
I go to you singing,
And I know a growing love.

PINE TREE

A pine tree crowns the mountain top
In forests forever green,
Hearing solos in the wind,
Needing nothing but to be.

Standing silently in the rain,
Quietly in the snow,
Knowing the sun will come again,
Needing nothing but to grow.

THE PLAY OF DAYS

Beyond the singing of simple days,
Beyond the color of your eyes,
In the summer of your other world,
I see a smile arise.

I've been with you in laughter,
And I've seen you laugh at pain.
And through the change, I've heard the same voice
Call to me again.

In the clear air of dawn,
I see you somewhere beyond
The play of days.

PLAYWRIGHT

Sometimes the river takes me
As if told where to flow,
As though it knows my wish,
And chooses there to go.

And then clouds gather
In patterns in the skies,
Arranged in rich pictures,
As if guided by my eyes.

I've heard in the daylight
The words of the playwright
Who forms a story around me.

I have heard songs spinning
Fabrics in the wind,
For the costumes I have worn,
For actors I have been.

Singers seem to improvise,
Yet every word is clear,
As if the lines of verse
Were whispered in their ear.

I've heard in the daylight
The words of the playwright
Who forms a story around me.

PLEASE BE EASY

When I read the book of stories,
I wish to be aware,
To see in the lyrics
The finest writing there.

I quickly find that I am
Gently guided by your hand.
And in the light,
I've begun to understand.

Please be easy,
But tell it to me right.
The softest breeze
Awakens me to the light.

If there are words of springtime,
I will be told.
I want to learn them
When the first flowers unfold.

I wish to see the light
When the earliest rays arise,
So I may find the greatest time
To shine back to the skies.

Please be easy,
But tell it to me right.
The softest breeze
Awakens me to the light.

QUICK-FORGOTTEN DREAM

The sun appeared from distant winds
I seemed somehow to know,
As though my heart were architect
Of the chosen glow.

Thoughts drew their rhythms
In familiar visions to become,
As had we been acquainted
In a distant drawing room.

The wind whispered to the clouds
The silent secret scheme,
As though the dawn had fallen
From my quick-forgotten dream.

RAIN

If I were a raindrop
In clouds of gray,
Homes in the valley
Would seem far away.

The morning shower
Would drift into my dreams,
And you'd see me in evening
In forest streams.

Every river
Appears to me,
Clear to the sea.

If I were a teardrop,
A sad eye would claim me,
And "child of pain"
It would name me.

And in the light times
Soon after,
You would find me here
In tears of laughter.

Every river
Appears to me,
Clear to the sea.

REAL

I wrote songs of dawn
Beneath a starry field.
And now bright solar rays
Make the words real.

I weave songs of love
From dreams of my heart.
And in the moment we meet,
The true lyrics start.

REASON

There's a reason for rainstorms
Only the river knows.
It tells the secret quietly
Where the seed of lotus grows.

The night wind sings for a purpose
In words that turn my way.
The meanings I cannot hear
The morning will say.

There's a pattern to the laughter
A joyous heart can know,
And a light of love
Where only the loving go.

There's a reason for living
I can learn to comprehend.
I'll find your love tonight
And understand the answer then.

RED-HAIR SARAH

Sarah, Sarah,
I'm a thousand miles away.
I'd love to be holding you,
And watching you play.

Remember, I'm your father,
And I send you my love.
And I leave you this song.
I know it's not enough.

Red-hair Sarah,
Someday I will share
Some time with you.

Red-hair Sarah,
No matter where
I may be,
My love will be with you.

Sarah, Sarah,
I hope I'm always more
Than just a man
Who used to come to your door.

Going away doesn't say
You don't matter to me.
You're still my daughter,
And you will always be.

Red-hair Sarah,
Someday I will share
Some time with you.

Red-hair Sarah,
No matter where
I may be,
My love will be with you.

RICH MAN

I live as a rich man,
Though there's nothing here to own.
There's a diamond in the breeze,
Seen and then gone.

Emerald winds awaken me
In ruby shades of dawn.
Silver sunlight filters down
And passes on.

Through my open hands
Flow the gifts of dawn,
In rivers that deliver
And go forever on.

RIVER RISING

This morning, there was a song
I could touch, I could feel.
Last night's silence
Had seemed unreal.

I heard the waves
Of a river near me,
In a rhythm singing
To the distant sea.

There's a river rising
In shades of blue and green,
In the dawn
Of the first day I've seen.

This morning, I saw the sun rise
In a high field of light.
Last night's darkness
Had never seemed right.

Below skies, I awoke
Where a rising river flows,
Like a natural child,
Like a wild rose.

There's a river rising
In shades of blue and green,
In the dawn
Of the first day I've seen.

RIVERSIDE

See beyond my tears.
They're just a river flowing
From worlds of a hundred seas
To other seas growing.

Rocks wash away
In the wearing of the land.
Sands form warmly
In my human hand.

Sometimes I cry
To the heart of everything.
And it seems
Just another way to sing.

RIVERS IN FLOW

I vision
rivers in flow
from the granite planet.

They drink blessings
from my wish
for a sparkling sprinkling.

Formed forth,
the high-rise waters
hug the world's rock,
and send their soft surrender
to the sea.

SAILOR

I'm a sailor
of clear water,
of refreshing rivers
flowing
out of mountains
that descend
from the sky.

I'm a sailor
over oceans,
clean seas where
only the wind
knows there I go
for my goal.

I'm a sailor
of my life,
finding the
horizon's islands,
going beyond
the world's edge,
and never
falling
off.

SCRIBE

I am no solo composer,
Just a friend to the players of sound.
With radiant invitations of eyelight,
I ask them to stay for the round.

Lyric is the dress of their color.
Rhythm, the wave of their hair.
From their eyes rise the lines of rhyme,
Traced on the spaces there.

And I see that understanding
Is all I need to understand,
And love to love the people
Who scribe the lyric gift
By my hand.

SEASON OF THE SEA

Sparkling waves dance in the light
Of the sun of summer days.
And the ocean wind overturns itself,
Wild across the waves.

Our reflections are lost
In the rippling glass.
And our plans for tomorrow
Have been left in the past.

It's the season of the sea.
And the wind gives life
To all I see.

A song is all I hear
And the wind is all I feel.
The waves are heartbeats
Of the lives below concealed.

I cast my love
To all that's alive.
I look to sea, down,
And I dive.

It's the season of the sea.
And the wind gives life
To all I see.

SEE MY LIGHT

When the sun passes
Behind the mountain peak,
Look at the sky
With me.

Sometime in that time
Between sun and stars,
Look in my eyes.
See my fire.

See my light.
It was always in me.
See my light.
Maybe now you see.

My light
Was waiting for you.
See my light,
Shining true.

Let's rest our eyes
From the blaze of day.
Sweet twilight
Takes our worries away.

Look at me
In evening's violet blue.
Only if you open wide,
Will you see my light.
It's shining for you.

See my light.
It was always in me.
See my light.
Maybe now you see.

My light
Was waiting for you.
See my light,
Shining true.

SHADES OF THE DESIGN

All around are hills,
Frozen figures in the snow.
Colors flow across,
Lightly as they go.

The hills wander slow
In the wind weaving through,
Under colors created
On the breath of a hue.

Everything I see
And all I think is mine
Fade in shades of the design.

All around are waves,
Frozen figures in the light,
Under rays of color
Changing in my sight.

The waves reflect
Things I seem to see,
In dreams
Rolling out of me.

Everything I see
And all I think is mine
Fade in shades of the design.

SHANTI

I gaze at the sea all morning.
The waves are bright and high.
They call from horizons of the sky.

Waves of diamonds rise like stars
To the silver sand,
And in the wind, they chant ...

Shanti.

At dawn, I look through the ocean mist
Below the open sky.
It calls for its moment to rise.

Dreams that I have seen in you,
You offer me.
Then you offer me the voice that sings ...

Shanti.

SHE SAID

She said, "I know the ways of the wind.
I can show places I've been."
She helps me feel the world turn.

She said, "I know the lyrics of clouds.
I see in and go out."
Hers are the words I will learn.

She said, "I know where you eyes can see.
I'll teach you the powers of three."
She sees a star above our home.

She said, "I know the names of the air.
I know the wings I wear."
She goes where swans have flown.

SHIFTING WINDS

Shifting winds of night
change the lunar form and hue
on dim horizons.

SHOW ME AUTHORITY

Some spirit in the river
Seems to know
Where to bend,
Where to flow.

I want to be a river,
A wind in the sky,
Following some
Infallible sign.

Show me authority,
A perfect God,
A perfect law,
Speaking to me.

Show me authority
A crystal light
By divine right
That shines my way for me.

I've heard a drummer,
But his beat is wrong,
So I write
My own song.

And my hand
Is guided by
A master's voice
When I write.

Show me authority,
A perfect God,
A perfect law,
Speaking to me.

Show me authority
A crystal light
By divine right
That shines my way for me.

SIGHTSEEING

I sightsee.

My eyes are
travelers,
so fast,
my thoughts only
tarry behind
in my shadow.

My eyes drink
of the horizon's blend,
quickly thirsty again,
quick
to pick
another path
into
another.

SILENT CELEBRATION

I love you with words that go unspoken,
Unwritten in the sunlight ray.
Somehow you can hear the love
My silence has tried to say.

I knew I had a highway flying
From my window view.
And now I seek one, and find one,
To take me to you.

All the while, I sing
A silent celebration,
And I bring to you
My love.

There is silence between my spoken words,
And there I speak to you.
There's quietness in the gentleness
I weave when I move.

Hear me say, "I love you,"
When words are not enough.
Listen to the ways
I can show my love.

All the while, I sing
A silent celebration,
And I bring to you
My love.

SILENT RHYME

I offer you my open hand,
And know it is the way
To give you all that is
The clearest light of day.

I dream a thousand poems,
And write the One for you.
And I rhyme my word with silence,
That you may find it true.

I paint for you my portrait.
The canvas stands white,
That I, and all I love
May await you in the light.

SKY

The sky is no
place,
just a lineless
diamond, angled
into colored
light
by the geometry of
my eye.

The sky is no
thing,
made blue
for beauty
like the setting
for a holy
golden stone.

The sky is no
time,
just stationary drone
written in stillness ...
from passing tones
improvised
on wind rhythms.

SKY BLUE

All sky-blue
was a wave crest,
concealing the sea
of stars.

They sleep on
islands of disappearance
now
dreaming of diving
into black evening tides.

SLEEPING, DREAMING

I saw you sleeping, dreaming.
And from your eyes, a hue,
Nearly clear, appeared of gold,
In scenes your dreaming drew.

I saw an imaged king arise
With his created land.
He knelt to return a ring
That had fallen from your hand.

You smiled lips of ruby dawn
A thought of love had made.
And in unwritten script, spoke you,
Like a player first-played.

You said, "I have a dream of queens
Cast gently on my form,
And plans to reach to you
With hands yet unborn."

You wrapped a scarf of stars about,
Kissed him, and turned away.
And through the fading golden light,
I saw you there, awake.

SMILE LIGHT

When we
smile light, see:
granite glows
in the path of eyes
and fades
to sunlight.

SONG FOR NO ONE

Like a silver bird singing
Where no one sees,
Sometimes my lyrics fly,
Unheard in the breeze.

Sunlight unfolds
In hues it never knows,
In the sky
Where a blue flower grows.

This is a song for no one,
No one that I can tell,
That my love
Is for loving itself.

I raise my hands open.
And the light, I give
To the day,
Where a thousand flowers live.

I offer you my love.
Our love will make us whole.
Sing for the living
In the visions of our soul.

This is a song for no one,
No one that I can tell,
That my love
Is for loving itself.

SOUNDS OF TOWN

A city is a set of dreams
Where iron energies pass.
The sounds of life are filtered far
Through forests of glass.

There's a voice buried in the air,
Under the thunder's voice.
A rhythm in the rumble,
And nuance in the noise.

Passing through the feeling form,
The song of sunlight is reborn
Into the sounds of town.

I've heard the words of working men
In loud statements of steel,
And in the lives of iron rails,
Revealing they are real.

In rhythms of mechanical chants,
A dancer turns to walk.
And words of flesh give breath to stone,
And rhyming songs to rock.

Passing through the feeling form,
The song of sunlight is reborn
Into the sounds of town.

SPARKLE FAR

My night crystals
sparkle far
past planets
and world-
wonders,
to beyond
my science's figurings.

All I see
is
light.

STAR FLAME

Go with me to the river light.
The moon is sparkling there.
If we slip to clear waves,
Don't pretend to have a care.

The river stones are slipping wet.
If we chance to fall,
It's just a sudden dance
To the water's wonderful call.

Light is the river wind breezing.
High is the wave being stirred.
Hear the evening echo,
Lost in the causing word.

I'll awaken you, love,
When your bed is full of sleep.
This is no night to close your eyes.
There are no deep dreams to keep.

We'll know star flame
Singing the solar name.
I know not the writer,
Yet I trust him, for all the life I am.

Light is the river wind breezing.
High is the wave being stirred.
Hear the evening echo,
Lost in the causing word.

STARGROUND

I dream forests orchestral
Past winter snows.
And I draw rainclouds to flower
Where color flows.

Gardens arrange their light
In rhythms of hearts.
And beyond harmonic stars,
One color departs.

By the word of turquoise suns,
In the summer my fire,
I sow my flowers in holy ground, and
I alight through desire.

STILL LIFE

I awaken with the quiet words
A dreamer has said.
A whisper stirs the wind
Beyond the lines of my bed.

Flowers by my window,
Planted by my hand,
Have seen the evening by,
And still there they stand.

In the night, the dreams I saw
Awaken in the dawn to draw
Their still life.

A song of love was my dream.
It filled a silver sky.
In the morning, I awake
To smile in reply.

Stones arise in patterns,
In shadows of the sun,
And sands begin to move
Where my day has just begun.

In the night, the dreams I saw
Awaken in the dawn to draw
Their still life.

STILLNESS OF THE CRYSTAL

In the earth, within its dreams,
My soul is free to soar.
Its written signature lies beside
The forms on the floor.

I am soul. I guide my life
With gentle generous dreams.
And I speak in simple words
The earth surrounding sings.

My river flows through crystal hills.
I can hear it.
And in the stillness of the crystal
Is my spirit.

From the heavens, again with dreams,
Drawing heaven home,
My soul softly stirs the earth
In crystal mirror glow.

Soul, by the life I live,
Gives what earth can understand.
I claim my home in low stone
To show motion in its hand.

My river flows through crystal hills.
I can hear it.
And in the stillness of the crystal
Is my spirit.

STONE GLOW

Stars season the sky
Softly in the night
And are covered by the rays
Of daylight.

And there's light shining up to me
Brightly from the ground,
As though the earth's a star
With painted shades laid down.

Every mountain seems alive
In a slight way.
Every stone is the light
Of its own day.

Like a secret that's hidden
By a child's hand,
Light is lying deep
Beneath the land.

As I stand above the ground,
So my echoes sound below,
With colors thinly covering
The stone glow.

Every mountain seems alive
In a slight way.
Every stone is the light
Of its own day.

STONES SPARKLE

See the stones sparkle
As they lie in beds of brown,
In gentle pretense of starlight
Fallen to the ground.

Grasses arise in patterns
Of simple living weave,
Gone to lines of green,
A jewel if you see.

Spy my love evolving
To a blue sky to your eyes.
And smile if it pleases you
To see the light arise.

STORY IN YOUR EYES

Your diamond eyes shine love
From a distant land,
Speaking a language of light
My eyes understand.

The gift they give
Is like the love they seek.
On a starry night,
Sparkles are voices that speak.

And without a word,
My heart has heard
The story in your eyes.

STORY OF OCEANS

I hear secret words
In a sea shell I've found,
Echoing the surf
In a softer sound.

A story of oceans
And rhythms of waves
And rivers that flow
Down from rainy days.

Songs are written
In wind on the seas.
Free verse is cast
In the breeze.

In stories of morning,
The verses turn bright,
With words shining
In a sea of light.

SUMMERLAND

Sing to me of summer
As we swim in crystal springs.
There is high life in the bright flower.
There is beauty where she sings.

Climb down the diamond stars with me
To silver shores below,
And dive through the clear waves
Of the riverflow.

Our hearts will call in song
Of echo over the hill,
Falling from
A higher summer still.

Sing to me of sunlight
Grown to golden hue.
It turns the earth to flowering green.
It brings the sky to blue.

Go in to inner worlds with me
To summer lands of light.
Hear brilliant winds in harmony
With the silent sight.

Our hearts will call in song
Of echo over the hill,
Falling from
A higher summer still.

SUN

A golden child plays
in light meadow,
where giant white
flowerclouds
be-small him.

Day-blue companions
dance as he
passes with game circles
that could hold a
whole world
in light.

Watching
with eyes bigger
than morning skies
is the father
in the sun.

SUNFLOWER

There's a yellow flower I see
Beneath the sun blazing bright,
Reflecting solar rays
In shades of gentler light.

The small sun sings
Its subtle lines to me,
In voices of vision
My eyes softly see.

SUNLIGHT REMINDS ME

Of shimmering dreams,
swept west
by star-quieting dawn

... sunlight reminds me ...

of a billion brilliances
within,
honored by the reflection
reminding.

SUNLIT MORNING

In bright dreams, in the love I've seen,
I find you near.
Sunlight, I see your light
When skies are clear.

Sometimes I feel I've been reborn
Like a child in a sunlit morning.

In a far sky, dreams are drifting by,
And I hear you sing.
The song soars. I see my life in yours.
I see my life begin.

Sometimes I feel I've been reborn
Like a child in a sunlit morning.

SUNSTONES

Sunstones grow to
mountain. Blue
glaciers hang from the
sky over
peaks and
somenites glide
away in clouds.

SWAN LAKE

Blue
heavens above
swan lake --
sing
to silver mists
swimming.

SWAN SONG

I awaken from a dreamless sleep
To the clear scenes of dawn.
I hear swans calling
From worlds of birds beyond.

SWEET GREETINGS

I stand
landless seas,
quieting
high-flight tides
with a blessing-giving:

Joy to the worlds!
Sweet greetings to peace!

SWEET NOVA

Sweet Nova sits in sunlight
On a comfortable stone,
Reading about the spirit
I read about years ago.

I see fresh flowers
In her eyes.
I feel the soft fire
That fills her with light.

She hears music
That has just begun.
She's learning the sunrise song
I've already sung.

Sweet Nova, do you know
My heart is young, too?
Have I kept the fresh life
That shines from you?

Sweet Nova, when you go,
I'll be waiting there.
Keep the sweet fragrance
You now wear.

Sweet Nova, do you see
The beginner in me?
The person who has just
Begun to see.

Sweet Nova, are my eyes
Filled with your thrill
Of waiting for the
Next step still?

Sometimes I feel
I'm a billion years old.
But you put a
New birth in my soul.

Sweet Nova, do you know
My heart is young, too?
Have I kept the fresh life
That shines from you?

Sweet Nova, when you go,
I'll be waiting there.
Keep the sweet fragrance
You now wear.

THERE'S ONLY TREES BETWEEN US

I sing to you from my cabin
While you are still asleep,
And fog is in the valley
Like a part of your dream.

From my mountain,
I give you a rising sun,
So my song can reach you
On a beam of the dawn.

There's only trees between us.
I can touch you this way,
With music and pen.
You're just a hundred stones away.

There's only trees between us.
I can kiss you on the breeze.
With a melody, I'm here
Beyond the trees.

There's only thoughts between us
That keep hearts from beating as one.
Let me stroke them away
With soft sunlight of a song.

Sometimes I touch you better
When you are still asleep.
There's just the valley,
The song, and me.

There's only trees between us.
I can touch you this way,
With music and pen.
You're just a hundred stones away.

There's only trees between us.
I can kiss you on the breeze.
With a melody, I'm here
Beyond the trees.

TO SEA

Earthdark rivers
surge singly eastward.

As silver stars
play light to
the one
dawning gold,
waterwaves rise
on clear
light wind,
in bright
beads beginning
to sea.

TO SING

Dream the ceiling to be music.
Hear music through the room.
And show the window echoing
In heartbeat, in tune.

Hear me in your singing love,
For song is what I bring.
Do it in duet,
O soul, we sing.

Within the planet's chanting,
Beginning with the word,
Our God calls us together,
To sing.

Tell me melodies speak
To you deeply, too.
Shine your light opera
Of clear light and color hue.

Win me with a wind
From whispering inner skies.
Touch me in harmony.
Play songs with your applause.

Within the planet's chanting,
Beginning with the word,
Our God calls us together,
To sing.

TO SPEND THE DAY

The evening fills a field
Of stellar dreams, of light,
Like thoughts someone had entertained
And asked to spend the night.

The morning forms a meadow,
Flowered yellow in its ray,
Like a dream someone had borne
And bade to spend the day.

UNDERSTAND

There is nothing
in your hand.
And I reach there
with mine,
and no shadow falls.

There are no words
a song couldn't say,
and silence could not
say more clearly.

There is no direction
but onward, inward,
and no footfalls remaining
-- just golden glimmering
moments' trails.

There is no place to stand
that love cannot
understand,
and no place to fall
but to another embrace
of the spirit
that is.

VIEWPOINT

Dawn
awakens me to
languages chanted
on clear winds
from
forming horizons.

... winds that
my ears dream
into words,
to turn a sky's
blue viewpoint
to me,
to understanding.

VISION WINGS

I leap into the ocean vision
Beyond the shore's storm,
And I see the waves trailing
And sailing into form.

I weave my feelings to words
For lyric to say,
And I see the sun to gold
To show the way.

Songs appear in breath
And go on wings their own,
Through silver winds
In the high fields of home.

I blaze my love
To see the light to see.
And in all, I find
All the light comes to me.

VISUAL HYMNS

As though
auditioning for
the skies,
your eyes improvise
blues,
singing visual hymns
to authoring gods.

A WAY FOR COLOR

I have a way for color
As I watch the golden globe.
And I send a hue of loving thought
Somehow the sun may know.

I send my heart of music
To the heart of music played.
And I hear its living grow,
As though a greater life were made.

I cry tears of joyous light
Brightly on the land,
And orchids of the forest
Rise upward to my hand.

I offer you a rainbow love,
And clear light shall you see
That you may know the joy
Of you, mirrored from me.

WEAVES OF WISDOM

Flowers in the daylight
Ask no answer of the sun,
Nor relay an explanation
For the gold that is their own.

Every flower's a fountainhead
Of glows that flow away,
Into outer oceans
Of life in bright display.

Flowers shout their songs
Of power purely growing,
In the perfect weaves of wisdom
That work without their knowing.

WELCOME ME HOME

I know my love as an ocean,
Within a whispering mist.
Come to me on the sea breeze
And see me in the heart of this.

All I know is my soul song.
And I sing long to the sails that appear.
Closer, somehow I know you,
As though I've loved you from another year.

Can you hear in my voice
The word that wants to be spoken?
Take me hand
And welcome me home.

We have traveled streams of light
And rivers of silver and stone.
Sing to me the poetry
Of the ocean we both have known.

I give you all my feeling,
A loving healing, when you rise to receive.
Find love. Take my love.
There flies love in the heart of me.

Can you hear in my voice
The word that wants to be spoken?
Take me hand
And welcome me home.

WE'VE GOT TIME

Go with me, evening girl,
Toward the setting sun.
We'll be floating toward the fading clouds
Where night has just begun.

We'll find the river blue and wide,
The sky reflecting deep.
Awaken me when western stars
Sing the shade to sleep.

We've got time
And we've got places we can dream of.
Ride the high seas with me
To the homeland to see love.

WHEN FLESH IS FIRE

I almost
said, "I love you."

My spirit
nodded,
acknowledged.
But my body's lips
would not whisper.

My heart shouted, "She
is the shining sky of
our mountain. When we
sing, she is sweet echo."

My analyzing apprised, "She
is one of our kind. Our needings link;
our thinking aligns."

My inside child giggled. "She
is the fun girl.
Please please let me play."

But my body's mouth muted.

"Say it,"
I said.

Silence. ...

Silence. ...

Then deep darkness,
speaking:
"I have not held her;
I've never known her.

"What is love
that is
not formed in flesh,
not warm, and moist, and moving?

"I know no love
that does not shiver
through the soft stone of body --
no love that does not
crave and thrust and dance.

"What language of love but touch?
What action of love but sacrifice
to another's hunger for heat?
What meaning of love but the
coming to meet of incompletes --
of thirst and juice,
of throbbing and yielding?

"When flesh is fire
in the beloved's embrace,
I will taste her flames.
Then my mouth
will allow
your words,
'I love you.'"

WILD FIRE

The world nearly tamed
The fire in my heart.
Nearly chained it, claimed it
As part of the dark.

But a spark
Stayed alive,
Like some alive sun
That will not die.

It's my wild fire
Rising from the ground
Inflamed by the wind
From high clouds.

Wild fire
Rising from my heart,
With a soul that
Touches the stars.

It burns like it's
A billion degrees,
But the heat never hurts me
If it burns free.

There's a life of its own
In the blaze,
But it doesn't blind if I let it shine
Night and day.

It's my wild fire
Rising from the ground
Inflamed by the wind
From high clouds.

Wild fire
Rising from my heart,
With a soul that
Touches the stars.

WINDS IN THE FOREST

Winds in the forest
stir choruses from tree twigs
in words of free verse.

WINDS OF WISDOM

Somewhere within the languages
Of love that I have heard,
Winds turn together
In the whisper of a word.

A voice softly speaks beneath
The breath of the breeze.
It's a friend, bending low,
Telling me what he sees.

Through the eastern sky,
The clearest sky I've ever seen,
I hear the winds of wisdom sing.

WORDS OF DAWN

I awakened in the dawn
And felt your love surround me,
As though your soul had searched the night
And carefully had found me.

I felt your love alight from skies
High above the ceiling.
Was it really you?
Or just a gentle feeling?

I heard you
Singing words of dawn.
Brighten the sky
With your song.

Your name came to me
In the words of a poet,
As though every writer knows your love
And shares the chance to show it.

The morning birds were singing,
And I heard you singing, too.
Was it just a lovely thought?
Or was it really you?

I heard you
Singing words of dawn.
Brighten the sky
With your song.

WORLDS OF GRAYS AND HUES

I see no drawn distinction
In the gray dawn of day.
I hear no solar bugler sound
The beginning of his ray.

As shadows raid the sunlit realm,
So stars invade the night.
Sol knows no victory
In lands beneath his light.

Shine and shade weave their way
In a universe of twos,
Proving wandering patterns
In worlds of grays and hues.

WRITING BY THE RIVER

I see the sky reflected
In the river running slow,
As the sunlight sinks
To the river bed below.

With soft suggestion of a sound
That find me in the light,
Fields of vision form
Into the worlds I write.

Someday at the right time,
I'll find it's time to go,
To things I reach to touch,
And somehow I'm certain to know.

Songs fill the stream
In harmonies I hear
From a singer who's sometimes seen,
And always near.

I live by the lessons
Every river can teach.
And I sing all the words
That flow within my reach.

Someday at the right time,
I'll find it's time to go,
To things I reach to touch,
And somehow I'm certain to know.

YOU LOOK SO PRETTY IN THE LIGHT

I can find you
In the cool dark.
I follow the sound
Of your beating heart.

My love sees you
Better than my eyes,
Before the
Morning rise.

You look so pretty in the light.
I had a feeling
It would be true.

You look so pretty in the light.
My faith had promised
I'd find loveliness in you.

I can understand you
In a quiet sigh,
And find you
In an ocean of night.

You can't hide love from me
In some subtle clue.
I can see the
Secret love in you.

You look so pretty in the light.
I had a feeling
It would be true.

You look so pretty in the light.
My faith had promised
I'd find loveliness in you.

YOU WEAR IT WELL

Diamonds
imagine finely
your eyes' light.

Your voice,
winds work
to imitate.

Skies hope toward
the openness
of your presence.

Onto the world,
you dress
a perfected reflection --
and you wear it
well.

YOU WROTE THE SONG

At the brightest time of day,
You didn't say a thing,
But I felt
I heard you sing.

I heard the sounds
Of a song being played,
And I felt the unspoken
Poem being made.

You wrote the song
When you smiled,
Shining down to me
In the lightest style.

Like the light that shines
On a flower of day,
Your love gives life
To words I say.

In your loving touch
Are the hands that write.
I'll see when you smile
To me tonight.

You wrote the song
When you smiled,
Shining down to me
In the lightest style.
